The company’s foundation dates back to 1992, when David Wilson established A&W Builders with a disciplined approach to project management and a steadfast commitment to client-first execution. As the company expanded its capabilities and geographic reach, it rebranded in 2003 as American General Corporation (AGC).
With more than 35 years of experience in development and construction, David Wilson cultivated a culture grounded in accountability, financial discipline, and long-term partnerships. Since 2015, he has provided strategic oversight and mentorship as his daughter, Michelle Wilson assumed leadership of the company.
Over the years, the organization has delivered comprehensive project management, construction finance, and development services for residential and commercial projects throughout the United States.
Now a woman-owned business led by Michelle Wilson, AmGen Group continues its legacy of operational excellence while positioning the organization for strategic growth across key markets. Michelle is a licensed General Contractor and REALTOR® with over a decade of experience in construction administration, contract administration, real estate development, and project management. Her leadership emphasizes strategic execution, transparency, and enduring client relationships.

AmGen Builders is the general contracting arm of AmGen Group, specializing in Commercial Tenant Improvements (T.I.), multifamily, and hospitality projects throughout Southern California. With a disciplined approach to scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance, the team delivers efficient, detail-driven construction services tailored to owners, developers, and institutional partners. From pre-construction planning to final delivery, AmGen Builders ensures projects are executed with precision, transparency, and accountability.
AmGen Development brings over 35 years of development expertise to master-planned communities, multifamily projects, and hotel conversions across California, Hawaii, and Utah. Working alongside select development and finance partners who are leaders in their respective fields, the division structures projects for long-term viability and strategic value creation. In addition to direct development, AmGen Development provides consulting and project management services in pre-development, entitlements, pre-construction coordination, and project financing, guiding projects from concept through capitalization and execution.
AmGen Realty serves as the real estate advisory and brokerage division of AmGen Group, supporting acquisition, disposition, and market positioning strategies across the company’s development and construction initiatives. Leveraging deep market knowledge and transactional experience, AmGen Realty aligns site selection, underwriting, and asset strategy with the broader development vision—ensuring that every opportunity is evaluated and executed with long-term value in mind.
